COMPAC Bearings

COMPAC WATER LUBRICATED BEARINGS

Film Review

This film is currently in production. Relying heavily on CGI to illustrate the story of how a Thordon COMPAC propulsion package  is laid out, it is intended to explain the system. It is very different from the oil systems that have been broadly used for the past 65 years and many engineers have never heard of lubricating a propeller shaft with water.

With this film we want to take the mystery out of it; explain how Thordon borrowed from the past to march into the future. The idea of operating for 20 years or more with no spare parts and no replacement bearings or seal repairs is hard for many to believe. We hope this film will do the job. It will also be about what could go wrong, and how to manage the system on a daily basis. Our target market is educational institutions, Marine Engineers and managers

Location

We are expecting to shoot this film aboard one of the recently converted Lake Freighters of Canada Steamship Lines although these arrangements are in process. On board footage will be mixed with stunning, color graphics of a contemporary engine room. You will see all elements of the system and how they work together.
